Elijah: Remaining Faithful in a Faithless World
After Elijah drops the bomb on Ahab he leaves as quickly as he came. Where did he go? God sent Elijah to the place where He often does his finest work…the wilderness.
1 Kings 17:2-4Christian Standard Bible (CSB)
2 Then the word of the Lord came to him: 3 “Leave here, turn eastward, and hide at the Wadi Cherith where it enters the Jordan. 4 You are to drink from the wadi. I have commanded the ravens to provide for you there.”
that leads us to two questions in this study of Elijah’s Life:
1.) Why does God often send His people into the wilderness?
- It’s a place of Protection. (Col. 3:3)
- It’s a place of preparation. (James 1:2-4)
- It’s a place that Produces Trust. (Is. 49:14-16)
2.) How should I respond to my wilderness experience?
- Obey – Embrace it (vs. 5)
- Stay – Live in it (vs. 5)
- Pray – Commune with God through it. (James 5:17)
