Ecuador Part One

Ecuador Part One

As many of you know I went to Ecuador for mission trip earlier this month. We were in Ecuador for 9 days. We went from March 2nd to March 11th. This is broken up into three parts. Part One outlining March 2nd through March 4th.

Friday, March 2nd 2018

Friday was a travel day for us missionaries. We flew from our hometown to ATL (Atlanta) airport. The flight was only about an hour long. When we go to Atlanta, we had a small layover where we got dinner at a little airport convience store. It wasn’t the best but there was very little to chose from near our gate. We then flew from Atlanta to Quito. We arrived in Quito at around 10 or 11pm. We got to our hostal (Hostal El Parque in Tababela) at about 11:30pm.

We had breakfast at the hostal. It was eggs with fruit and bread. We went walking around Tababela. Then early in the afternoon, We flew from Quito to Loja (Which is essentially Catamayo). The flight from Quito to Loja took about 45 minutes. From Catamayo, we were taken by bus to Catacocha.

The ride to Catacocha was an hour long. When we got to Catacocha, we got to the hostal. The Hostal was in front of the catholic church. We got a little time to clean up and put our stuff up. We were then taken by Paola (The wife of Victor who is the pastor of the church in Catacocha that we partner with) to a wedding. After the very long and eventful wedding (which was fun), We went back to the Hostal and sleep.

Catacocha, Ecuador

I woke up at 5:45am. I got ready like normal. That includes full face of makeup and hair tied up in a bun like normal. Honestly it was easier to wake up super early there as opposed to in the US.

At 7am, Anthony and I went into the lobby area and read the book of James together. Then we discussed what it meant and how we came apply it to day to day life. We then met with the group downstairs to go get breakfast from Victor and Paola’s house.

We (Rey, Natalie, Emily, Ashley, Anthony and I) walked over to Victor and Paola’s house. We got there breakfast wasn’t ready but it was okay. We all chatted and hung out before breakfast. When breakfast was finally served, we had eggs, pancakes, and coffee. The coffee was so good that all I had to do was add a little bit of sugar. I ended up asking to take a photo of the coffee packaging.

Then we walked around before we had to go back to Victor and Paola’s house. While we were walking we searched for the coffee and found it. After we got to Vctor and Paola’s house. We went to go to a baptism of two Ecuadorian women. The baptism went well. After we hung out, we played soccer and then ate lunch.

After lunch, we got cleaned up at our hostal. We then went to Victor and Paola’s house. The church service was held in their dining room. The entire place was packed from their dining room to the entery way and out onto their porch was filled with people.

We held the children’s ministry in the upstair room. We had a total of like 25 students. We sang, read them a story from the bible and how to apply it to everyday life. They had a lot of fun!

After the church service, we had pizza and then walked back to our hostal.
