Haunted Chocolatier Update
ConcernedApe Shares New Haunted Chocolatier Development Update, But Don’t Expect Big Reveals
Fans eagerly awaiting news about Haunted Chocolatier have finally received another update from developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone. However, if you were hoping for new gameplay footage, screenshots, or major feature announcements, this latest development post keeps things intentionally simple.
In a new blog post titled “Still here, still grinding…”, ConcernedApe reassured fans that development on Haunted Chocolatier is continuing, even if there isn’t much new to show just yet.
“I’m Still Working on the Game”
The update begins with a straightforward message:
“Yep. I’m still working on the game.”
ConcernedApe admitted that repeatedly posting similar updates can feel a bit repetitive, but he wanted to reassure fans that progress is still being made behind the scenes. Rather than sharing unfinished content, he explained that he’d rather wait until features are polished before revealing them publicly.
He compared his development philosophy to serving “fully baked bread” instead of “half-baked bread,” emphasizing that he wants every reveal to reflect the quality he’s aiming for.
Perfection Takes Time
According to ConcernedApe, one of the biggest reasons development is taking so long is his attention to detail. He explained that the elements players interact with most frequently need to feel seamless, intuitive, visually appealing, and satisfying.
Recently, much of his focus has been on refining Haunted Chocolatier’s recipe book—the interface players will use to craft chocolates throughout the game. While it may seem like a small feature, he revealed that he’s spent significant time perfecting everything from the number of required clicks to how information is organized and presented.
Because the recipe book is a core gameplay mechanic, he wants it to feel effortless to use every time players open it.
Why There Aren’t More Screenshots
ConcernedApe also addressed why fans haven’t seen many new screenshots or gameplay reveals over the past several months.
He explained that game development is an iterative process, with features often changing significantly before release. Revealing systems too early can create expectations that may not match the finished product, leading to unnecessary disappointment.
Instead, he’d rather wait until features are finalized before showcasing them publicly.
Stardew Valley Is Still Receiving Updates
While Haunted Chocolatier remains his primary long-term project, ConcernedApe and his small development team are also continuing work on the upcoming Stardew Valley 1.7 update.
He has previously acknowledged that balancing both projects does slow development somewhat, but not nearly as much as some fans assume. His perfectionist approach has consistently been the biggest factor in Haunted Chocolatier’s lengthy development cycle.
Fans Will Have to Keep Waiting
Although this latest update doesn’t provide a release window or major gameplay reveals, it does confirm that Haunted Chocolatier is steadily progressing.
For fans eager to explore the cozy chocolate shop RPG, patience remains the name of the game. ConcernedApe’s philosophy is clear: he’d rather spend extra time perfecting every detail than rush out unfinished content.
If his track record with Stardew Valley is any indication, many players are willing to wait a little longer for a game built with that level of care.
