Never Trust Anyone: My Chaotic Experience in Lockdown Protocol

‘Lockdown Protocol’ Has Taught Me Never to Trust Anyone

It seems the Social Deduction genre shows no signs of slowing down, and a new contender has entered the ring. While many are still losing countless hours to games like Among Us or Death Note: Killer Within, I’ve found myself captivated by something else entirely. Lockdown Protocol has unleashed the worst in my friend group—and I’ve learned one thing for certain: I can never trust these people again. Or maybe, they shouldn’t trust me?

The Basics: Work, Deceit, and Betrayal

Like any Social Deduction game, Lockdown Protocol keeps things simple on paper. Employees have tasks to complete, while Dissidents make their lives miserable. Depending on the size of the group, it can be terrifyingly easy to pick off targets and shift the blame elsewhere. Offer to help a friend with a two-person job… and “accidentally” cause a workplace mishap. Pass the buck to someone else, or spin an elaborate lie to escape detection. The thrill of plotting and scheming is genuinely addictive.

Take my first real encounter with a Dissident, for example. I was trying to complete a scanner task, which required two people. My “helper” offered guidance on how to complete it. Everything seemed innocent—until I followed his instructions and, bam, I found myself out cold. My so-called friend had used my trust against me, delivering a swift, unexpected kill before slipping away to continue his charade.

Death Isn’t the End

Once you die in Lockdown Protocol, you don’t just sit there. You become a Ghost, observing the survivors and their antics. Watching my killer act innocent while assisting others was simultaneously impressive and terrifying. The sheer audacity of it caught me completely off guard—and reminded me that in this game, nothing is as it seems.

Racing Against Time—and Your Friends

Part of what makes Lockdown Protocol so compelling is the combination of a ticking clock and the constant threat from those around you. Its fun, bouncy art style keeps things visually engaging, while proximity chat turns every silence into a suspenseful heartbeat. You never know who might be waiting around the corner, and environmental hazards only add to the tension.

Every match feels fresh. You can lure someone into a corner with a cleverly placed boombox, or go loud and try to take out multiple targets while managing stamina and health. The game’s customization options let you tailor matches to your preferred style, making each round uniquely chaotic.

Looking Ahead

Currently, Lockdown Protocol offers a single map and a handful of tasks, but even in its early stages, it’s clear this game has staying power. There’s a special thrill in weaving through deception, coming out on top, and then bragging about it in the pre-game lobby.

With more maps and tasks on the horizon, Lockdown Protocol looks set to remain a staple in our gaming rotation for a long while. In the meantime, one thing’s for sure: never trust anyone—especially not your friends.
