R.E.P.O Game Review

Repo is a new co-op survival horror game made by indie studio Semiwork, and it’s quickly grabbing the attention of Steam and PC players. The concept? You and your friends sneak around creepy maps, snatching up valuables while trying not to get eaten by terrifying monsters. Sound familiar? Yeah, it gives off Lethal Company vibes—but is it just a knockoff, or something worth your time? Let’s break it down.

You can play Repo solo or with up to five friends. You play as a semibot working for someone (or something?) called the Taxman. No one really knows who the Taxman is, but they only care about results. Slack off, and you’re toast.

Each level has a quota: a certain amount of loot you need to collect and turn in to move on. But it’s not just a treasure hunt—monsters spawn while you’re exploring, and they will try to kill you. So, while you’re scrambling to hit your quota and grab as much stuff as you can (because more loot = more cash), you also need to stay alive.

Repo is the perfect mix of funny, creepy, and chaotic. The graphics are solid, the monster designs are super original, and the map layouts keep things fresh. In just a couple weeks of playing, I’ve screamed (loudly), woken up my family, and laughed until I cried. It’s that kind of game.

From the eerie background noises to the satisfying “clink” of a bottle being tossed into the return machine, you can tell the devs put a lot of love into the details. Even the physics—like the way items bounce or bots stumble—adds a weirdly fun realism to all the madness.

The devs are also super active, posting fun weekly update videos and teasing what’s coming next. As for how long you’ll be playing? That’s kind of up to you. There’s no “ending”—as long as you keep surviving, the game keeps going.

Most of your time will be spent hunting down valuables (which spawn randomly), avoiding or fighting off monsters, and navigating increasingly tough maps with multiple exits. I’ve already racked up over 50 hours, and I feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface. There’s plenty to keep you coming back—upgrading stats, pushing to higher levels, and just seeing how far you can make it.

Oh, and the price? Only $9.99 on Steam. Honestly, for ten bucks, it’s absolutely worth checking out. Worst case? You try it, it’s not your thing, and you’re only out the cost of a sandwich.
