The studio has perfected the art of churning out seemingly endless variations of the same concepts, often focused on random careers or industries. And now, we have Candy Shop Simulator, the latest addition to the lineup. Just when you think you’ve seen it all, they pull out another confectionary-themed game. To add insult to injury, Chocolate Factory Simulator recently hit PC, showing that Games Incubator is perfectly content with making a habit of cashing in on every trend under the sun.

Another Day, Another Simulator

If you’ve played any of Games Incubator’s other titles, you’ll find the structure of Candy Shop Simulator strikingly familiar. The game sticks to the tried-and-true formula that the studio has become known for: serve customers, stack shelves, and make endless, minor upgrades to your business to keep things running smoothly. Instead of managing a grocery store or running an animal farm, though, this time you’re behind the counter of a candy shop. And yes, it’s pretty much the same gameplay loop you’ve seen before.

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Like most of the studio’s offerings, the game is engaging enough to be addictive. However, it doesn’t do much to distinguish itself from the rest of the pack. There’s no groundbreaking innovation here, just a change of theme from animals or groceries to sweets and confectioneries. The world-building here also deserves a mention. While the NPCs are predictably lifeless and lack any real personality (a hallmark of Games Incubator’s games), the environment itself is decently designed. The game features a full world to explore, which is a step up from some of the studio’s previous works. It’s not groundbreaking, but it’s a decent addition that adds a little extra charm to the standard business sim.
